Why are there so many math courses in this major?
To be honest, there are hundreds of "environmental" programs in U.S. colleges and universities, and environmental majors are a dime a dozen. If you want real opportunities after graduation, you need to separate yourself from everyone else with an "environmental" major. Employers and graduate schools will look carefully at your math background as a measure of your quantitative abilities. Your math courses and grades will follow you long after graduation. Avoiding rigorous mathematics courses in college will ultimately close off many career options in your future. You cannot take too many math courses in college. In fact, I STRONGLY suggest a Mathematics Minor if you are serious about showcasing your quantitative talents. The Mathematics faculty at Black Hills State can assist you in choosing courses that compliment your science training.
